  • 5/18/11 The skeleton of the infamous Tulsa piece. It's not even close to being done, but it's coming along nicely.

  • 4/14/11 Show on Saturday at OSU-OKC! It's an oldie but a goodie...

"Curiouser & Curiouser" mixed media transfer on wood
  • 3/31/11 A little something I've been working on. Still not sure if it's finished yet. Thoughts?
  • 3/22/11 Going through old things to update my portfolio and I'm finding some interesting things. These are all practice/scrap pieces of newsprint. I usually have a few of these from each print to test colors or materials on. Some of them turn out to be pretty cool, to bad they are on newsprint and will probably start to yellow within a few months. Oh well, I still think they look pretty awesome.

testing on book pages

this is in focus...testing CMYK color
to overlap. i love the offset

testing colors again...i forgot this
was under my screen when i went to clean
it. water went through and made a
little puddle which made the drips. i
think it is my favorite of these
little accidents.

  • 3/14/11 Finished work for Pets and People...
"Sweet Baby JoJo" mixed media
monotype screen print on wood

"Lola" mixed media on wood
  • 3/9/11 I'm participating in a fundraiser show for Pets and People. Each piece has to be an animal that is up for adoption. They recommended that it be a Pets and People pet, but I decided to do Lola and JoJo. Lola was our mommy kitty from the summer of 09. She had kittens outside our apartment. 3 of them were able to find homes, but Lola and 1 kitten JoJo remain at the shelter Jude Ranch. I hope that this show not only will help them find homes and raise money, but also bring people out to Jude Ranch to adopt other pets. I took a break yesterday while working and came back to find Peppy like this. I think he secretly misses his kitten friends.

  • 3/4/11 I started this about a year ago, but I finally finished it...I think. It's now hanging in Renewal Salon and Spa. The wood grain was interesting to work with on this piece. I'm still unsure about it.
"Georgia Bleu Throwin' Rocks II" mixed media on wood

  • 2/2/11 Mixed media on wood: silk screen, metallic ink painted on, colored pencil, sharpie. "Reality"
  • 1/31/11 In progress...All We Have Is Now. A few more steps and details to go.
  • 1/3/11 I promise I'll get new things on here within the next couple of weeks. I have show deadlines coming up. New prints and other things are on their way!
  • 11/30/10 Done! I love it! Wish i would have made more.

  • 11/10/10 It's about time I updated this section. I'm working on a piece for my oldest niece, Meghan. It's a print from the movie Fight Club. I personally don't like the author or the book that the movie was made from, and I'm also not a big fan of the movie itself. But I have enjoyed the process and I like making the blood drips. :) It is just good to get back into printing again. This is only the first 3 colors (pretty much the background). I still have to put all the details in and add a quote from the movie. I'm doing two versions: one with a background and one without. I think I'm enjoying the background more, it's less harsh on the contrast. What do you think?

  • 10/19/10 I've been working on a few sketches for my next print series. Many of you may already know that I am mildly obsessed with Harry Potter. I'm rereading the last book for the 3rd time. The first part of the last movie comes out 1 month from today. Woohoo!

  • 9/28/10 I can't believe it! I got into Momentum Tulsa. I tried to get into the OKC version of this show back in March and was rejected, so I did not expect to get in the Tulsa show. I submitted my 2 most recent prints. I didn't have time for a 3rd one, so I put in an older print from the Lebowski series. Of course, that's the one that made it in. I'm so excited. They have an artists' market at the opening for small works priced under $30. I'm hoping to sell a lot, so we can start saving some money before Kev goes back to school next year.

"Donny Who Loved Bowling"

  • 9/18/10 I have a show up at UCO! My drawing professor is having a show with her own work and her students' former and current works. I have a piece up that I did a little over a year ago. It is almost 5 feet tall and about 2 1/2 feet wide; by far the largest piece I've ever done in any medium. It is charcoal on paper.

  • 9/6/10 FINISHED! Ok, so I liked this a whole lot better before I put that dark blue on it. The blue was necessary to show where the paint/marker stuff was on her, but it just looks weird. I know I'm my worst critic. It just didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.  :(

  • 9/4/10 I need a drying rack for my prints...I'm having to improvise for now. I just have to hope the cat doesn't decide to bound through the room while my prints are still wet. Keep an eye out for cheap used racks.
  • 8/31/10 I have been working on another print for a week now. It's close to being done. 2 or 3 more layers and then detail line work. Already have a working title on this one too. I love it so far. I forgot how much I love nontraditional portraits. I think this will begin another series.
  • 8/25/10 I thought I should start dating these posts, I don't know why I didn't in the first place. Anyway, started a new print last night. I think I like the monochromatic route. Going with blue on this one. Will post pics as soon as it's looking like something recognizable.

  • FINISHED! I just realized the image is a little dark. I will have a better one when it is matted. Overall I'm happy with it. I just need to think up a clever title.

  • 1 more layer to go! As soon as I pulled this color I was disappointed, but I've figured out a way to fix it. I know it looks funny right now, but it will be great when it's done.

  • 3 colors done. I think I'm leaving the background like this, so he can stand out more. I'm really loving the detail. Just a few more layers and it will be done.

  • Printing 3rd color. It took me forever to block this screen out. All the detail in the trees gave me a sore neck, but it was worth it. The trees are looking awesome.

  • First layer done! This image is a little dark. It's really a very pale gray. The detail is coming out great. I started blocking out for the next color, and I'll probably print it within the next couple days.

  • Here is my in progress screen print of Nick. I love this process so much. Sometimes I even like the process of blocking out the screen more than I like printing. I've only gotten white down so far, but tomorrow I'm laying down the next color (pale gray). I'm thinking that it will probably have 6-7 shades of gray in between the pure black and pure white. If you're not familiar with the process here is a LINK that sort of explains it. This explains the process using stencils (the way that t shirts are printed). I do everything by hand and I don't have the equipment to make stencils. It's one of the hardest processes to explain without seeing it in action. There are a few videos on youtube also if you want to look them up. I'll be updating in the next few days and will try to post some more pics.

  • Before I start these children prints I'm finishing a series I started during finals. The concept deals with humans' relationship and interaction with nature. It emphasizes the fact that we are nature. We treat ourselves like we treat our environment. I don't want to explain too much about it yet until I finish. But here are two of five almost finished pieces. They are mixed media (oil, charcoal, graphite, and colored pencil) on wood panel.

  • Idea for my next few prints: I'm starting with this photo that my niece took of my nephew a few months before he died. I'm thinking of doing a series of children. I already have one of Georgia. It is a monotype print (see below). So I thought it would be good to stay consistent with that style; I might branch out a little. I'm starting them in the next couple days, so I'll update as I get going.

  • "Georgia Bleu Throwin' Rocks" My most recent monotype screen print of my niece in California. This is the ghost print layered with colored pencil, graphite, and oil pastels.

  • "Donny Who Loved Bowling" The Lebowski series. I had a few other prints in this series. I enjoyed it and sold a lot at the arts festival this year. I'm thinking of doing another movie series. Harry Potter perhaps? I am open to suggestions.
